Decora Contracting: Sky Ceiling Re-Paint In Progress

When the Venetian opened in Las Vegas in 1999, everyone in the themed construction industry marveled at the execution of the amazing the sky ceiling that hung above the Grand Canal Shoppes. When Venetian Macau opened in 2007 Asia got to witness the marvel that is shopping under the permanent blue sky and clouds that has made Venetian retail famous around the world.

The contracting arm of Decora Macau has had the unique privilege to refresh this sky. Starting in 2020, the sky ceiling painting works have been a massive undertaking as work needed to be done while the shopping mall was still operating with the work including demolition of the existing ceiling, rebuilding the ceiling and new sky ceiling paint effects.

Decora Managing Director Matthew Drake states ,”Since Decora Macau’s existence, this is the most ambitious project we have undertaken in Macau. The complexity of planning the logistics has been extraordinary. There has been a lot of coordination with working at night, protection for the existing facades, the flooring, and even the water in the canals. We have even built massive working platforms above the shoppes but below the painting works so we could safely work while patrons are shopping below us.”
